Auto-Education

The term "auto" comes from the ancient Greek word for "self." One of the core principles of the Montessori Method is the concept of "auto-education." It is based on the belief that children are capable and willing to teach themselves if they are provided with interesting learning stimuli. Classical Montessori materials were developed to be "self-correcting" - the materials, not the teachers, provide feedback to the child as he works with them.
