Islamic Montessori

Our Islamic Montessori model is a method of understanding and educating children which focuses on freedom within limits in an intentionally prepared environment based on the belief that Allah ﷻ has created children on the fitrah (فطرة) and with a natural desire to learn. Our responsibility as adults is to preserve the fitrah and guide children based on the Qur’an and Sunnah.

Keeping Montessori's child-centered approach to learning and development, we preserve and nurture each child’s intrinsic desire to learn. Beginning at an early age, children in a Montessori environment develop order, coordination, concentration, and independence. Montessori education is student-led and self-paced but guided, assessed, and enriched by knowledgeable and caring Montessori teachers and interns, the leadership of their peers, and a nurturing environment.

We model what we believe by following the Sunnah, the lived example of the Prophet ﷺ. Through carefully chosen literature, oral storytelling and short class discussions, we help children develop social consciousness in age-appropriate ways. Building blocks and dramatic play allow children to collaborate and develop their imagination, while practical life activities facilitate socialization and role-play. As teachers and older children model courteous and peaceful behavior, younger children catch on and begin to do the same.
